Our Mission

To enhance the lives of those living with brain injury through education, awareness and support.

Our Organization

For over 35 years, the Ontario Brain Injury Association (OBIA) has been an instrumental force in the lives of those impacted by an acquired brain injury. OBIA has provided support and advocacy in such a way that it is seen as a “guiding light” to help navigate the journey of rebuilding a life after brain injury. OBIA assists with personal advocacy for survivors of brain injury; thereby, working closely with various health organizations and professionals in the field including, healthcare centres, rehabilitation companies and law firms to ensure the best quality of care and outcomes for survivors of brain injury. Furthermore, OBIA continues to provide support, information, training and education to survivors and their families, as well as professionals working in the field of brain injury.

The OBIA Board is a Policy Governance Board and the Role of the Board Includes:

  • Setting policy to give direction to the organization.
  • Monitoring the effectiveness of the organization.
  • Ensuring that the resources necessary to achieve the goals of the organization are available

Nominations Are Open to All with Special Considerations May Be Given To Expertise in one of the Following:

  • Indigenous Representation
  • Pediatrics
  • Family Members of those living with brain injury
  • Insurance
  • WSIB
  • Educators

Interested Candidates Should Note:

  • The OBIA Board currently meets 6 times a year via Zoom
  • Persons who are interested in serving on the OBIA Board will be expected to complete a Board Application Form.

Deadline to Apply: May 10, 2024. Candidates selected for an interview will be contacted by May 16, 2024. Interviews will be conducted by Zoom or via teleconference.
