I was also a part of the Bath Rugby team. I was a software engineer at the Royal Bank. Before the accident I felt able to do things and decisive. Since my stroke I feel annoyed, frustrated and worried.

My motor vehicle accident was in New Zealand when I was 26. I had 39 surgeries, several strokes, and I use a wheelchair to get around. I am 58 now.
Read MoreColour being blue signifies sadness to me. The darker colour represents the change in weather and mood. The yellow signifies that there is some brightness shining through. The airplane signifies travel; I left Canada, to the other side of the world, to a foreign country. The gag, first when I went to New Zealand I was welcomes with open arms, after the accident that changed. Each word represents something in my storm that I have lost. I lost my kids and family, all these words signify loss. The light shining through, the yellow, is when something is bringing me up instead of tearing me down. I have tried to show people that if I can do what I am doing, they can also do it.

I was in a car accident on the highway in 2014. I was 39.
Read MoreThe top of my mask represents broken glass because my brain feels like that. I cannot bring back it’s original form. The rest of my mask looks “normal” because from the outside you cannot tell that I have an invisible injury. Don’t be tricked by outside appearances. You never know what people are dealing with on the inside. My faith has strengthened from this and I am thankful for what I have.

I received a concussion January 2016. I was re-concussed in November 2016. I have been living with Post-Concussion syndrome ever since.
